Marketing Your MOSS Program

Marketing MOSS is relatively straight forward. It just take persistence, creativity, and most importantly...word of mouth. Below is a list of tips and resources to help market your MOSS program:

Advertise in school (see our new School Program).

Talk to other sport clubs such as hockey clubs, ski clubs, etc.

Personally contact all last years' students (also encourage them to tell their friends...word of mouth is the most successful means of advertising).

Create a poster or brochure. See our Sample Participant Brochure. Place these on community bulletin boards, in recreation facilities, and other appropriate locations. Ensure brochures are replenished and community bulletin boards are re-posted as they are often cleared weekly.

Advertise in community recreation guides.

Publish a newspaper article. Use this News Release Template. The following are some photos and captions you are welcome to use if you don't have your own (courtesy of Photography by Chris). Please contact BC Sailing if you would like to see more.

The best time to publish an article is just when the weather starts getting warmer and people begin to plan their summer holidays. Ask your local newspaper if they have a special summer activities issue. It also helps to publish a second article 1 - 2 weeks prior to the course starting for those families who plan last minute and as a final push to fill your class if it's not already full.

Be creative and talk about the program to friends and other families. It's a great conversation piece and a great way to meet families with similar interests.

If you have other suggestions to add to this list, please share them with us!
